Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6

Chrysler Crossfire

The Chrysler Crossfire is a rear-wheel drive, sports car marketed by Chrysler as both coupé and roadster and built for Chrysler by Karmann of Germany.

Design

The two-seater arrived in 2001 as a concept car designed by Eric Stoddard with further refinement by Andrew Dyson before production in 2003.The Crossfire's fastback roof and broad rear fenders made for a rear end design that prompted automotive journalists to describe the new car's resemblance to American Motor's 1965-1967 Marlin. For example, Rob Rothwell wrote ...when I first espied the rear lines of the Chrysler Crossfire I was instantly transported back to 1965 and my favorite car of that year, the Rambler Marlin
The name Crossfire refers to the two character lines that run from front to rear along the body sides — crossing each other midway through the door panel. Conceived during the period of Chrysler's ownership by Daimler-Benz, the name also refers to the collaboration of the two companies.

Construction and features

The Crossfire shares 59%[citation needed] of its components with other Mercedes models. The chassis is a combination of a modified C-class engine compartment, pre-2003 SLK platform, S-Class rear linkages and new stampings for the side rails and rear.
The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual with an optional 5-speed automatic. Base (Standard) and Limited models, originally sold beginning in the 2004 model year, are equipped with a 3.2 L, 18-valve, SOHC V6 engine which produces 215 hp (160 kW) and 229 lb·ft (310 N·m) of torque.

Saleen S5S Raptor

The Saleen S5S Raptor is a sports car revealed by Saleen, Inc. on 20 March 2008 at the 2008 New York International Auto Show. It is intended to be equipped with a Saleen 5.0 liter supercharged engine (similar to that used on the 2008 S302E) which will yield 650hp, capable of accelerating the car to 60mph in 3.2 seconds or less. The Raptor is expected to complete the 1/4 mile in 10.9 seconds. It is projected to retail for $185,000, roughly $400,000 less than the S7. Possible production may start in 2010, the Raptor represents a collaboration between Saleen's engineering team and the design group at ASC. Both companies are owned by Hancock Park Associates, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm.

2008 Ducati 848

Ducati has introduced their 2008 lineup and the 2008 Ducati 848 breaks cover with a 134 horsepower engine in a 369 pound package, giving the 848 a better power to weight ratio than the 999. Looks like a nice addition to their middleweight models. The words ‘agile’ and ‘refined’ aptly describe the 848. At 168 kg (369 lbs) the 848 is an amazing 20 kg (44 lbs) lighter than its predecessor, and a significant 5 kg (11 lbs) lighter than its larger capacity brother, the 1098.The highly advanced 848 engine uses an improved method of engine case production in which cases are vacuum die-cast formed. While providing significant weight savings of more than 3 kg (6.5 lbs), this method also ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. Further refinements include a sophisticated wet clutch that offers 1 kg (2.2 lbs) less weight, a much higher service life, improved clutch feel and quiet operation.

Honda CBR600RR

The Honda CBR600RR is a 599 cc (36.6 cu in) Honda super sport motorcycle that was introduced in 2003 as a race replica version of Honda's CBRFx series motorcycles. It has won every world supersport title since its introduction in 2003.

History

The CBR600RR was developed from and inspired by the Honda RC211V MotoGP bike. The similar physical appearance of the CBR600RR and RC211V is intentional. Underneath the looks lie MotoGP technologies that were made available for the first time on a production motorcycle such as the Unit Pro-Link rear suspension and Dual Stage Fuel Injection (PGM-DSFI). Both were taken directly from Honda's MotoGP bike. While it's not uncommon for street bikes to utilize racing technology, this was the first time totally new technologies found their way to the production line the same year they made their way to the professional racing grid. The bike receives the "RR" designation for "race replica" because of its emphasis on racing characteristics such as an advanced braced swingarm, center-up exhaust system, and more aggressive riding position. The 2003 model carried over to 2004 technically unchanged, but with new color schemes.
In 2005, the CBR600RR received a major revision with new body work, fully adjustable inverted front forks, a set of track-inspired disc brakes with radial-mounted four-piston calipers, and an entirely new aluminum frame, swingarm and rear shock. The midrange power was also increased. These changes along with additional refinements to the engine and exhaust system all came together to bring CBR600RR's weight down nine pounds, although Motorcycle USA.com measured the 2005 model as being 22 lb (10.0 kg) lighter than the 2004 model. MSRP for the 2005 model was US$8,799. Except for new color schemes, the 2006 model was unchanged from the 2005 model and had an MSRP of US$8,999.

Acura RSX

The Acura RSX was an automobile sold by Honda in North America and Hong Kong. Larger outside mirrors now feature built-in arrow-shaped turn signals, and new dual-five-spoke 18-inch wheels make the car even more striking. A new rear bumper with trapezoidal dual exhaust pipes and arrow-shaped LED taillights complete the fresh look of the new model.Opening the driver's door reveals a sportier three-spoke steering wheel and new gauges in white with silver backgrounds. And, a new COMAND display in the center console now incorporates Bluetooth for hands-free cell phone operation, a six-CD "stacker" unit and voice control of audio and phone.

The three new direct-injection diesels feature a displacement of 2.0 liter and outputs spanning from 110 to 160 hp. Subsequently the Insignia engine line-up will be expanded with an EcoFLEX version offering very low CO2 emissions in addition to other, more powerful variants.
The entry-level model – the four-door sedan with the 115 hp 1.6 ECOTEC gasoline engine – costs just 22,700 euros. Compared to the competition, pricing for the diesels is also extremely reasonable in Germany, with the 110 hp 2.0 CDTI starting at 24,300 euros. Standard equipment is extensive, with the entry-level models boasting air conditioning, CD-radio, on-board computer, electric height adjustment for the driver’s seat, as well as ESP and traction control.

2010 Opel Astra

Opel will unveil the fourth generation Astra next year in March, most probably at the Geneva Motor Show. The car was already caught at testing, and is set to be sold all over the globe - it will be sold under the Opel, Vauxhall, Holden and Saturn logos.

With design inspired by the Gtc Concept, the future Astra will feature a more "fresh" and aggressive look that will help it to easily compete with models like Volkswagen Golf VI and the new Ford Focus (European version).

2010 Opel Astra

Same front grille as in the newly-launched and also be used in the future Astra, but it will feature different headlights, easily inspired by the concept, in order to ensure the car’s individuality.

As rumors say, the 2010 Astra will be built on GM’s Delta global small-car platform, same that will be used for the future Saab 9-1. Under the hood the company will keep the same engine line-up: different headlights, but a hybrid version is also expected.
Opel will also work on a VXR version of the 2010 Astra. The vehicle is going to be powered by a new 1.8 liter engine capable to develop 240 hp. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph will be made in less than 6 seconds while the top speed will be somewhere around 155 mph.
The 2010 Astra will be offered as a three and five door hatchback, an estate version (Caravan), a convertible version (Twin Top) and also a three-doors GTC. All this will be available after the five-doors version will make its official debut.
The production of the 2010 Astra will be moved from the Antwerp plant, Belgium, to Swedish Saab unit, Trollhattan. Reason: better productivity and 25% less production costs.

World's Most Expensive Motorcycles

Motorcycles have had mass appeal to the general public for roughly a century and a half. An American named Sylvester Howard Roper designed one of the first motorcycles in the 1860s. The motorcycle was displayed at fairs and circuses around the eastern U.S.. Europeans also had their hand in popularizing motorcycles and during the World Wars, motorcycles functioned as a quick means of transportation.

As the motorcycle progressed, the engines and frames became bigger, sleeker, faster and more powerful, resulting in the high-tech and expensive motorcycles of today. If you can afford one, a custom motorcycle built to your exact specifications is within reach.

Currently, the most expensive motorcycles in production are fetching in between $100,000 and $200,000 US. While researching expensive motorcycles, we found 4 bikes that dominate all others in performance, appearance…and cost.

The fourth most expensive motorcycle we found is the new MV Agusta F4 CC created by Claudio Castiglioni, the motorcycle company's director. He wanted to create a spectacular motorcycle that met strategic marketing needs while also being something truly special and unique. The expensive motorcycle bearing his very own initials "CC" has a top speed of 315 kph (195 mph), 1078 cc's and a 198 hp engine. Each bike will boast a platinum plate located near the top of the steering column showing the model number from 1 to 100, making this motorcycle all the more special to its owners. This Italian dream costs 100,000 Euros ($133,745US).

MV Agusta F4 CC

Next on our list is the MTT Turbine Superbike costing $150,000 (111,000 Euros). Not only is this motorcycle expensive, its also extremely fast. The Superbike is the Guinness World Record holder for the "Most Powerful Motorcycle Ever to Enter Series Production". The turbine engine in this one is made by Rolls Royce and is capable of over 300hp. The motorcycle also boasts carbon fiber fairings, a rear mounted camera with LCD color display, forward-and rear-looking radar detector with laser scrambler, one touch "Smart Start" ignition, and many other cool gadgets. This bike seams to be pretty popular in Hollywood. It starred in the movie "Torque" and even Jay Leno owns one!

MTT Turbine Superbike

The Macchia Nera Concept Bike is near the top of the list of most expensive motorcycles at 150,000 Euros ($201,000). Built around a Ducati 998RS engine, its Italian designers and engineers set out to create an extremely high tech and expensive motorcycle that would be thought of as "the ultimate track bike" that is "simply beautiful and beautifully simple". The Testastretta engine is fitted with lightweight metals and alloys like titanium and aluminum making it very lightweight. The view from the side of the Macchia Nera shows exposed belts and engine components, giving its design a minimalist feel while still being aesthetically pleasing. We should add that this bike is a one of a kind and not in produced for retail at this point, but if you have an extra 150,000 Euros ($201,000) laying around for an expensive toy, your dream might come true.

Macchia Nera Concept Bike

The most expensive motorcycle in production will cost you at least $250,000. The production is limited to a few hundred models, so you better place your order. The Dodge Tomahawk V10 superbike boasts 8.3 liter engine (505 cubic inch), and the 10 cylinders can bring the bike to a maximum speed of almost 400 mph. The 1500lb bike has an independent 4 wheel suspension and can reach 60 mph in around 2.5 seconds

Jaguar Gallery

Jaguar just delivered the first images and information on the 2008 Jaguar S-Type, but most people won’t even notice anything different from the previous five model years. That’s because Jaguar is replacing the S-Type with an all-new sedan called the XF in early 2008.

There are absolutely no details about the XF available from Jaguar, other than it will replace the S-Type and a vague reference to it resembling the new XK coupe and convertible. The name follows in the footsteps of the XJ and XK. With a release date of spring 2008, we’d expect to see a concept version of the XF relatively soon like at the Detroit auto show in January.

What is new for the 2008 S-Type? Well, the entire lineup gets the wire mesh grille and bumper treatments that appeared on the previous year’s performance-oriented S-Type R. A new assortment of wheels are available, and the front seats have been upgraded. Otherwise you’re looking at the same car as in 2007, with the same engine choices. The 2008 S-Type will go on sale in the first half of 2007. Prices have not yet been announced.
